Member Tutorials - 4.0 Member's Dashboard QR Code

Welcome Back to the Windsor Local Member Tutorials

In this tutorial,  we talk about what a QR code is,  and how you can use your automatically generated QR Code that is found in your Dashboard.

What are QR Codes?

QR Codes stands for 'Quick Response' codes and it is a different kind of barcode.  A QR code consists of black or colored squares arranged in a square grid on a white background,  which can be read by an imaging device such as the camera on your mobile phone.

The QR code can contain many different types of information,  including,  at the very least,  your or your company's contact information or website links.  It has become very common in advertising.  Typically,  a smartphone camera is used as a QR code scanner.  It provides an easy way to access a brand or company's information or website,  much more quickly than by manually entering a website URL.  QR codes also increase the conversion rate,  i e the chance that your consumer will convert to a sale or take the action you want.  It coaxes your interested prospects further down your conversion funnel,  with little delay or effort,  bringing the viewer to see your website or social media posting immediately.

How Can We Use the QR Code Provided by Windsor Local?

The QR Code automatically generated by Windsor Local is a link to your Profile Listing on the Windsor Local platform.  When a person scans it with their mobile phone,  it will take them to your Profile Listing on their phone,  where they can then see all of the information you have set up.  It will include all of the tabs you have set up in your Profile Listing.  This is another reason to build out your Profile Listing as full as possible.  You can put this image anywhere,  but the first place I would recommend is at the end of your 'About Me / Us' section,  which is located at the bottom of the 'Overview' tab in your Profile Listing.

In your Dashboard,  right-click on the QR code and save it on your computer.  Then go to 'Manage Listing' and click on the 'Additional Details' button.  Click on the 'About Me / Us' link at the top.  Scroll to the place where you would like to show your QR code.  Click on the add image icon on the right side of the Tools Palette.  Drag the QR code image to the drop image box,  or click there and find the image in your folder on your computer.

Once the image is in your editing screen,  you can click on it to bring up an icon menu to help you further design it.  It will help you with the following:

  1. Choose the alignment of the image,  including left,  center and right alignment.
  2. Set the Alternative Text value,  to help with screen readers.
  3. Remove the image.
  4. Change the image size,  but remember it is very important to keep it in the same proportion as the original image.
  5. Insert a caption below the image.
  6. Change the style of the image,  which includes square,  rounded and circle,  and finally,
  7. Insert a link to a website.  This is not usually applicable since the QR code will normally contain the link you need.

Click the 'Save and Continue' button and the QR code will now be located in your 'About Me / Us' section where you added it.

From there,  you can add this image anywhere - online or in printed documents - let your imagination run wild!
